Birdwatching

Our camping lies on the border of Nautesund Fuglefredningsområde, which is a part of Bråfjorden and Gvannesbukta i Sauherad. This is a good area for birds the whole year, as the river under the bridge stays open.

Beaver, several groups of beavers have their lodge in this area of the Canal.

You may be lucky to see them working if you enjoy the canoes in the evening.

Bicycle.

From the camping you can follow the route “Den blå idyll” which leads you to Notodden, the bluestown, or take the other direction to Nordagutu or Akkerhaugen.
In our reception you will find a map over other routes here in this district.

Paddle The Telemarks Canal?

Whether you bring your own cano or kayak, or rent our canoes, the lake is perfect for recreation.

Nature: fishing, walking, wild berries…….?

The camping is surrounded by river, creek and mountains.
Via the roads around us, you can walk on the small paths on to Sauheradfjell, in the early autumn you may like to look for wild berries?
We sell “fiskekort” , which gives you the possibility to catch your own dinner in the lake, but we promise nothing…..

Gavlesjåstulen, Heddal. Summerfarm in the mountain.

One of the few places where you can see cows and sheep up into the mountains.
Here 680 m up in the mountains close to Notodden, you can enjoy the cows from Telemark, Telemarkskyr.
From the parking area you will have to walk for 30 minutes, but an easy walk. Enjoy!!!
